I hate when people cancel on me...

Hey Close Friends,

I had something very profound click for me this week and I wanted to share. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people cancel last minute on me. Now, don’t get me wrong there are two type of people who cancel. The first person is someone who does not care or value your time. The second type of person is a friend who is advocating for their own needs, perhaps in response to exhaustion or being overwhelmed and needs to take time for themselves to recharge.

I had a very close friend cancel on me this week and initially, I was annoyed but then something clicked. I realized I have been over-scheduling myself so I wouldn’t have to be alone. And when someone canceled last minute I was triggered by the fact that I would now have to be alone. That is definitely a ME problem and not on my friends. I want to be the person who my friends feel like they can advocate for their mental health and needs with. I want to show up for them when their social battery is running low by being supportive of their recharge time and allowing myself to be comfortable in my own solitude! Now that I’ve realized this trigger I’m feeling so much better about overcoming being alone and am actually starting to enjoy it. I am really loving this growth!

See you soon sweet friends!

love,

Stephanie
